Fun with Sketch Layouts with Mary Pat Saturday June 25th 1:30-3:30

Come join the fun this month with Mary Pat.  This month's sketch class consist of 4 projects (2-2page layouts, 1-One page layout, and a bonus card).  You will be using the Basic Grey collection Life of the Party.  This is a great collection for just about everything.  Even though the line is designed for Birthdays, Mary Pat will show you how to use it for just about anything.  It is an amazing line and it is so fun!  You will receive sketches for all the projects, cardstock, paper and embellishments all for $20.  What a bargain!

 

Come join the fun--bring your basic tool kit, trimmer, corner rounder, and scallop border punch (optional) and I will bring the treats!  What is better than scrapping? Scrapping with Chocolate!!  See you then!

Karen Burniston Comes to Simply Scrapbooks

I love pop-ups! I love the feeling of accomplishment I get when I create something interactive out of paper. I love the look of surprise on a person’s face when he or she opens up a card and something unexpected happens. I love creating and teaching pop-ups more than I love Agatha Christie mysteries, malted milk balls and reality TV! (And that says a lot!)

My background is in civil engineering, and I am grateful for my CAD skills every time I design a new pop-up template or mechanism. In 2009 I licensed my designs to Sizzix to be made into dies to fit in their Big Shot die cutting machines. The dies are a fabulous way to make pop-ups – no more cutting and scoring by hand!

Besides being a pop-up enthusiast, I’m also a wife to John and a mother to twins Karl and Emma. We have a high-maintenance Puggle named Lucy who likes to eat paper piercers. After a decade of living in beautiful Colorado we moved in June 2010 to Katy, Texas. Yes, I did say June. Yes, it really IS hot in the summer!

I’ve taught scrapbooking classes all over the world and it’s such a rewarding feeling when a student starts the class saying “I can’t make that!” and ends the class saying “I just made that!”

I’ve got a passion for pop-ups. Watch out . . . it’s contagious!

Please bring the following to class: Scissors, 12" paper trimmer, Favorite adhesives - dry (tape runner with refill) and wet (fine line glue pen),Strong adhesives - red liner tacky tape or scor-tape (1/4" wide), mini-glue dots, Zip Dry glue (optional),Paper Piercer, Scoring tool and ruler, Mini Stapler and staples (if you have one - Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher is my favorite!), Needle nosed pliers (optional, but helps close jump ring and doubles as a staple remover, if needed), Bone Folder (optional, but helps make crisp creases),  Dark brown small ink pad for inking edges (optional)
